Albert Einstein figured out that if you were riding through space at 99.99% of the speed of light and you turned on your head lights, the light would depart from your vehicle at the full speed of light from your point of view. Since light can travel no faster, something had to give. Einstein theorized that time and space must warp relative to the speed of a moving light source.
Someone asked Thomas Edison what he thought about Einstein's ideas. Edison said that he didn't understand any of them nor could he see any profit therefrom.
Einstein gave up after his 1 and only patent (a refrigerator).
